Today’s makeup products are more sophisticated with ingredients that are easier on the skin. Still, you have to know your skin type and be willing to explore. Not all hypo-allergenic products will work for sensitive skin. Typically, an allergic reaction can be immediate, within the first 20 minutes or 48 hours. Don’t fret! Finding the perfect product for you is, afterall, all about you!
Cleanse. Cleansing habits we learned while in our teen’s or twenties will not give us great skin in later decades. Creating damage by too much sun exposure, alcohol, smoking, and not washing off makeup each night will only add damaged years to your face. The multitude of products we have available today make maintaining healthy skin so easy!
Hydrate. Prior to any makeup application, apply a moisturizer to hydrate the skin, no matter what your skin type. If your skin is oily, gently ‘pat’ the moisturizer on your skin as rubbing will only increase oil production. Protect. Heat – whether it’s due to internal combustion or external sun – is one of the considerations we all have to make when we make our foundation choices. Liquid vs powder vs mineral? The choice made depends on what is best for you. The season – summer, winter, as well as pre-and-post menopausal seasons also affects the type(s) of foundation. Using a primer will give any foundation product and eye product better ‘hold’ without adding a caking layer. I like Hourglass Cosmetics VEIL Mineral Primer as it also contains an SPF.
Power Tools. Use them. Mascara, lipstick, concealer, etc are powerful tools to help us easily attract and communicate with others.
