D/FW Personal Shopper, Julie Bartlett, On Updating Your Fashion Style Without Spending A Lot
For many, fashion is an art form: a method of utilizing clothing, accessories & hair to project a statement of who you are.
But some of us will find ourselves on the look-out for a need to update our wardrobe, either through weight loss/gain, a change in our personal life, or a career transition. No matter the reason, we can always be in style without spending huge amount of cash. Here are some inexpensive ways to POP! your style and save money on your clothes.
Fashion ideas tip #1: Schedule an appointment with Julie to learn what colors and styles work for you. Then, choose a source of inspiration for your new fashion statement thru:
- Fashion magazines
- Web sites
Fashion ideas tip#2: Check your wardrobe at least once a season so you can assess which clothes you wear and those you no longer need. For the ones you’re no longer interested in, visit a resale shop and trade them for cash or store credit. Then shop the resale store. You can find some amazing deals on gently used fashion. Also, speak to friends about trading and create a party around trading clothes, handbags, and jewelry. You can also sell gently worn pieces on Craigslist or eBay and make use of the income to purchase newer accessories & shoes.
Fashion ideas tip#3: Think of your closet as a store. Mix & match your clothes, creating combinations according to the inspiration you discover out of your fashion sources. Try to make enough outfits for 2 weeks, separating out the extra pieces to use as alternatives or for future use. This can also help you know what you need to add into your wardrobe.
Remember: Being fashionable doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot of money in order to create a fabulous sense of style!
